Workshop
(LANGUAGE: ITALIAN/ENGLISH)

(Sold out) An immersive and experimental workshop inspired by the principles of generative design where systems, randomness and iteration shape the final visual outcome. Participants will learn how to design animated and modular posters in Figma using Variables, Modes, and plugins that introduce visual randomness.

Together we’ll build a flexible design system including grid, color palette and typography and explore how Variables and Modes can be used to create multiple visual identities from a single layout. By combining logic and chance, each participant will produce a series of generative posters with unique outcomes.

Focus

What you will learn:

  • Advanced use of Figma Variables (color, string, number, boolean)
  • Setting up and switching between Modes
  • Building flexible, modular design systems
  • Exploring creative automation through plugin-based randomness
  • Techniques for animating components and designing reactive visuals

Takeaways:

  • A reusable Figma file with a complete variable-based design system
  • A collection of animated generative posters
  • Advanced skills in variables, modes, and creative plugin workflows
  • A systems-thinking approach to visual design

To whom it is addressed:

Designers, creatives, motion enthusiasts, and students interested in exploring a generative and experimental approach to visual design in Figma. Some basic familiarity with Figma is recommended.

Requirements to participate:

  • Basic knowledge of Figma (frames, components, auto layout)
  • A personal laptop with access to Figma (desktop or browser)
  • Figma Professional plan to access full Variables and Modes functionality (Recommended but not mandatory)
  • Curiosity about systems, animation, and visual experimentation
